Antonio Conte

Exciting times for Chelsea? Wednesday saw Antonio Conte’s highly anticipated arrival to Stamford Bridge and his first training session with his new players. There was a new air of excitement from Chelsea fans that has been missing for the last 12 months. It was hard not to get caught up in the social media buzz.

Conte led two training sessions. The pictures looked positive, the players looked happy and as if they had been working hard under the new manager. Speaking to Chelsea’s official website Oscar had this to say:

“I really liked it and I think the team are really going to improve a lot this season,”

“He’s very clear about what he wants from us. He spoke to everyone and it was very tactical with some good movements from the players.”

Antonio Conte also had his first press conference as a Chelsea manager and this further added to the general feeling of excitement surrounding his arrival. A personal favourite moment of his press conference was his confirmation that John Terry would still be Chelsea’s captain for next season, he praised the 35 year old defender, which is a sign of how important he views Terry as a member of the team. He also spoke about of his aims to be Champions next season and that this team can get it through work and a fighting spirit.

There are also more reasons for Chelsea fans to be excited about the immediate future. Eden Hazard was a stand out player of Euro 2016, the Belgian who had a terrible season showed some of his old form as he captained his team to a quarterfinal.

The capture of Batshuayi was a great start for the summer, but with Kante expected to join this weekend and other rumours including bids for Joao Mario and Gabriel Barbosa, the Chelsea board appear to be taking this window more seriously than last summer’s.

Now a lot of people may be reading what i am typing wrong, i am not trying to say that we are going to win the league this year with no problems, that will be hard, our competition are getting strong. But times are changing, the poisonous air that has surrounded the club for the last few months seems to be lifting. Exciting times lie ahead for this team.
