Fan protests were significant as Chelsea fail against Man United – opinion

Chelsea actually played well at times and controlled the home game against Manchester United yesterday.

Our opponents were awful though, and just shows the level of this league right now. It was a pretty bland watch, Chelsea vs United last night. I actually fell asleep for about ten minutes in the second half, not even joking. That’s top level Premier League football for you in 2026!

United had a second rate backup defence out without the mainstay centre back pairing, and Chelsea couldn’t even penetrate it. We tried, we tried quite hard in moments, and we did get very unlucky not to get the ball in the net in a couple of moments. But ultimately, it is always the result that will count and matter, and unfortunately, that is all I am interested in in what has become another very worrying time at my football club.

Admittedly I did see some good moments, I might have missed some too whilst I was sleeping… ! But the biggest problem is we only mustered 1 shot on target from 20 attempts – that’s absolutely terrible.

We reduced a poor United side to just 4 attempts on goal, with 1 on target. That’s great on us, but shocking on their part. But the difference is, they scored from their 1 attempt, and they were happy enough to sit on that and see it out, because that’s how bad they are.

As I said, Chelsea controlled the game with 60% possession, a lot of it pointless mind as it often has been in the last few years playing this magical ‘possession-based’ football that the geniuses in charge of our club want to play. And also, we continue to search for the perfect goal when we can’t even get a scrappy one. Who cares how it goes it? Just take some damn shots and stop trying to pass it into the net.

We all know our head coach is well out of his depth and I’m sorry but I’ve gotten to the point where I can’t even stand looking at him now, let alone hearing what crap is going to come out of his mouth this time. Sick of him, he needs to go, sooner rather than later. He’s FAR from good enough. But I’d also have no trust in the owners bringing in anyone better. The onus is always on them first and foremost.

On the positive, I thought Cole Palmer was half decent at least in moments in the first half even though he was frustrating in the second. He was dictating a lot of the better play that we did have. Enzo Fernandez was also good and doing a lot of the deep dictating of play. Other than their goal, I thought we actually looked pretty solid and organised. I mean, they literally only had 4 attempts at our goal. Some of that was on them mind and how bad they are. OK, most of it….

But other than that, the positives were few and far between even if we were unlucky not to score. Some poor individual performances from the likes of Liam Delap and Alejandro Garnacho, who was just such a poor signing. As you know, I backed Delap, but he’s thrown me under the bus well and truly.

It was just flat, the atmosphere was flat, the game was flat, Chelsea are flat, football is flat!

Chelsea have now failed to score in four consecutive premier league matches for the first time since 1993.

– Liam Delap is TWENTY games without a goal in all competitions

– Garnacho has not scored in the league in SIX months

– Pedro Neto has 0 goals in 9 matches

– Cole Palmer has 0 goals in 7 matches

Marc Cucurella tried to run down the tunnel after the game without clapping the fans, only to be told to go do so by Willie Issa.

Liam Rosenior went to clap the Matthew Harding Stand and got booed, told where to go, and V-signs aimed at him.

The owners were heavily protested against before kick off by way more than the Met Police’s estimate of 500, which was a significant and damning moment for them.

Moises Caicedo, who might be our quietest captain ever, is going through some real off form too and is not captain material. Enzo Fernandez, our only real leader (and no, a captain is NOT someone who leads by example, it cannot be), is still being punished because he isn’t agreeing to their wage terms, I mean because he said he wouldn’t mind living in Madrid one day…

It’s all a complete mess.

And adding to that, Everton, who are in 10th, could go ahead of Chelsea with a win over Liverpool today.

Liverpool could extend their lead in 5th to 5 or even 7 points tomorrow.

A reminder, BlueCo walked in to Chelsea with Thomas Tuchel as the head coach, Petr Cech in the board room, Frank Lampard willing to jump in and help, and John Terry ready to sacrifice his all for any kind of role on the first team coaching staff.

BlueCo out. Rosenior out. I want my Chelsea back.
