Paul Merson hasn’t held back on his thoughts on Michy Batshuayi.
The former Arsenal midfielder doesn’t think the 24-year-old is at the level required to play for the champions, The Sports Review reports.
When speaking for Sky Sports, Merson believes Alvaro Morata is the only striker that is worthy of playing for Chelsea.
The Sports Review quotes Merson saying:
“They’ve got one centre-forward, no offence to Batshuayi.”
Merson’s criticism of Batshuayi is too harsh

Scoring a league goal every 62 minutes since moving to Chelsea doesn’t justify this opinion.
The striker may not have totally convinced manager Antonio Conte. However, there’s clear talent and goalscoring ability in Batshuayi.
Sometimes he does lack some confidence but that’s understandable given that he’s still learning and adapting to the English game.
Club legend Didier Drogba took time to become the great striker he went onto be in England, so we must be patient with Batshuayi.
The player scored the goal that sealed the title for Chelsea against West Brom last season. Hopefully, he can prove Merson wrong and score again at The Hawthorns on Saturday.
