Opinion: Saturday’s Chelsea match has never come at more perfect timing

Chelsea welcome Brentford to Stamford Bridge on Saturday for the 3pm kick off, and there has never been a timelier welcome of a game at Stamford Bridge.

These last few weeks for Chelsea fans have been full of ups, downs, turmoil, drama, and so many mixed emotions. It’s a very tough time to be supporting this club, and it is something that some fans have never been through before. In the last 20 years, some fans have only ever known Roman Abramovich.

Now, there are all sorts of rumours and debates over the potential new owners, and it has been absolutely exhausting following it all along and trying to form opinions and doing all the research on prospective new owners.

The #NoToRicketts campaign collectively bought all of us fans together pulling in the same direction, and that was an amazing thing to witness. But right now, we are still hearing about them being strong in the race to buy Chelsea FC so it makes you wonder if it was all worth it anyway.

It was, but that’s not the point. The emotional rollercoaster has been taking it’s toll on all of us, and we desperately need to watch our beloved Chelsea FC play football just to take a break from it all and take our minds away from it and onto the pitch, even if it is just for 90 minutes.

I dislike international breaks as it is, but this one has been even more painful and even more drawn out due to the off-field situation. But Saturday brings a time for us to all focus our minds and eyes on the pitch again and it is very much needed for all of us, I can safely speak for us all there!
