Spanish football paper Marca are well connected at Real Madrid, and it’s from their pages that the Eden Hazard transfer saga has been smouldering for some time now.
As we approach the decisive summer, things are becoming clearer however, and details of the movements made by all three parties are becoming clear. Today’s edition claims that a deal is “almost done” between the two clubs and the Belgian. It seems a move will be confirmed long before the summer window actually opens.
While it will be painful to have to watch our star player for close to a decade play his final games for us knowing he’s on his way out, at least it gives fans a chance to give him a proper sendoff.
Fans have long accepted he has a right to move on now as he reaches the final years of his peak, to play under a manager he idolised at perhaps the biggest club in the world. There will be no bad blood at the Bridge if Hazard plays with a deal already announced. Eden has been utterly magnificent for us over the years, and will sign off with perhaps his best season yet.
So perhaps it’s for the best that everything is wrapped up soon. What we need more than anything else right now is clarity at the club. If he’s going to go, let’s not leave everyone in limbo. It’s the hope that kills you, after all.
