- Chelsea defeat Crystal Palace 3-1 at Stamford Bridge.
- Goals from Alvaro Morata and Pedro win it for the Blues.
- Maurizio Sarri’s men are up to second ahead of Liverpool.
- WATCH: Two goals in five minutes win the game for Chelsea
Chelsea kept the pressure on Manchester City at the top of the Premier League with a victory over Crystal Palace.
Chelsea took the lead in the first-half through Alvaro Morata. The Spaniard controlled the ball beautifully in the penalty area. It sat up for him invitingly, and he made no mistake, firing into the back of the net.
The Blues failed to find a second in a timely manner and subsequently provided Crystal Palace with an avenue back into the game. Andros Townsend broke our defensive line and drilled the ball low and hard into Kepa Arrizabalaga’s goal.
Unsurprisingly, with Chelsea chasing a goal, Maurizio Sarri introduced Eden Hazard. The Belgian made an immediate impact, finding Morata with a free-kick, with the Spaniard scoring his second goal of the game in emphatic fashion.
Chelsea were not done there, however. Five minutes after Morata added his second, his compatriot Pedro got in on the act to secure the three points for Chelsea. Pedro arrived late into the penalty area and finished expertly to double our advantage.
That proved to be enough for Chelsea to secure another win and continue Maurizio Sarri’s unbeaten run in the Premier League. We return to action on Thursday in the Europa League against BATE.
