Big-money misfit Alvaro Morata has left Chelsea and signed for Atletico Madrid, according to everyone’s favourite Italian journalist – Tancredi Palmeri.
Alvaro Morata was thought to be the answer to our troubles upfront following the departure of Diego Costa. Unfortunately, he turned out to be nothing more than an expensive waste of money and time, much like Fernando Torres, but not nearly as likeable.
It has fast become clear that, with Gonzalo Higuain thought to be closing in on signing and sealing his move to Chelsea, Morata would be departing. Sevilla were the first team to be linked with a move to sign him, but Atletico have fast emerged as the leaders of the race.
It now looks as though Atletico have got the deal over the line and Morata will be returning to Madrid. Tancredi Palmieri, who granted can be hit and miss when it comes to this kind of information, claims that the deal has been completed. Morata is now an Atletico player.
Of course, we await official confirmation, but it certainly looks like a matter of time before it comes. We would wish Morata all the best in the future, and hope that his time at the Wanda Metropolitano brings more success than he found in West London with Chelsea.
