Barcelona are reportedly plotting a swap deal with the intention of finally signing Chelsea winger Willian.
The Catalan giants were linked with a move for Willian over the summer, but Chelsea stood firm, with the player himself seemingly not pushing for a move to the Camp Nou.
Willian polarises opinion in SW6, but he has been a key asset during two Premier League title triumphs. That will be his legacy, not fans on Twitter bemoaning his lack of productivity.
He is the wrong side of 30 now, however, and in the coming transfer windows we will be presented with our final opportunities to trade him in for a decent amount of cash – or even a younger model.
La Sexta claim that Barcelona could offer Malcom, who hasn’t successfully settled at the club, as a makeweight in a deal to sign Willian. That, on paper, would suit both parties.
Chelsea would have their ready-made replacement for the ageing Willian, while Ernesto Valverde will have the man he was seemingly so keen to sign in the summer.
What do you think, Blues?
