Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has confirmed that the club will try again to sign Chelsea youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi.
It is honestly a surprise to us that Callum Hudson-Odoi is still a Chelsea player, such was the level of interest in him from Bayern. His head was turned, he handed in a transfer request, yet Marina Granovskaia refused to cave to their public tapping-up.
Everyone with any affiliation to Bayern felt it appropriate to publicly discuss their interest in Hudson-Odoi, an 18-year-old with very little footballing and life experience. Their behaviour was thought to be one of the reasons that Chelsea refused to negotiate.
Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is one who clearly failed to learn from the mistakes he made in January. He has continued to talk about Hudson-Odoi when quizzed by the press, this time confirming that Bayern have not given up on their pursuit of the young winger.
He’s quoted by Goal saying:
“We also had transfers in the past that didn’t work at the first attempt but at the second. And that’s what we will work on now.”
“To lay down a marker costs money. We want the best quality players here at Bayern and Hasan is absolutely convinced of that player.”
Maurizio Sarri has insinuated that Hudson-Odoi will not be leaving in the summer either. Whether that’s true remains to be seen, but we’d be much better equipped to deal with his departure when Christian Pulisic is through the door. Let’s wait and see what happens.
