Chelsea will wait to be given the green light by Southampton before they consider making a bid for wantaway Saints defender Virgil Van Dijk, reports The Telegraph.
The Saints have insisted that their star defender is not for sale at any price despite the fact that Van Dijk has handed in a transfer request to the club earlier this month.
It is reported that Chelsea have made it very clear to the Southampton that they remain interested in signing the £60M rated Van Dijk, but The Telegraph also reveal that the Blues have decided to be very cautious about how they approach a possible deal for the defender.
Earlier this summer, Liverpool were forced to appologise to Southampton over their pursuit of the 26-year-old centre-back.
As per The Telegraph, it is hoped that this cautious approach will put Chelsea above the rest of the teams who are interested in signing Virgil Van Dijk, should Southampton’s stance change in the next ten days.
Can’t wait to see how handsome he’d look on the Blue Jersey.
Caution is the word.
hope for the best
