Chelsea have reportedly agreed a deal in principle with Juventus to sign Daniele Rugani – and we’re not done there.
Our defence was not good enough last term. The defenders within the squad would be the first to admit that their performances at time were not up to scratch.
However, our squad is stacked full of centre-backs with big reputations. Gary Cahill and David Luiz are esteemed veterans, Cesar Azpilicueta and Antonio Rudiger are at the peak of their powers, and Andreas Christensen and Kurt Zouma have their best years ahead of them.
We do not appear to be in any dire need of defensive reinforcements, but that does not appear to be stopping us from pursuing TWO new centre-backs.
According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, a deal has been agreed in principle for Chelsea to sign Rugani from Juventus. The Blues will now pursue AS Roma defender Kostas Manolas.
Is this shrewd business, Blues? Or are we throwing money in the bin? Let us know what you think in the comments.
Most important is striker
Kostas Manolas I rate over Rugani atm. Rugani is three years younger but Manolas only just turned 27 so is on prime for 3, 4 years and is a beast.
The signing is definitely necessary and if actually true, would put other players in that position on their toes.
