Calciomercato‘s latest report on Chelsea’s pursuit of Juventus centre-back Daniele Rugani suggests that the deal is getting closer to completion.

Rugani has been continually linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in recent weeks. Maurizio Sarri appears to view his arrival as a way to improve his squad.

Chelsea have plenty of options at the back, but are they Sarri centre-backs? Are they good enough with their feet to play his football? These question marks remain.

Sarri worked with Rugani at Empoli. He knows him well. If he wants him, who are we to question him? It’s great to see that the club are prepared to back him in the market.

As per Calciomercato, Rugani is likely to be in the door sooner rather than later. The clubs are thought to be nearing an agreement of the transfer fee.

Sarri is believed to be keen on Rugani joining up with the Chelsea squad in Australia as soon as possible. Stay tuned for further updates.
