Chelsea are in pole position to sign Southampton centre-back Virgil Van Dijk, according to the Irish Independent.
The Irish Independent believe that Liverpool have revived their interest in signing Van Dijk, having previously been forced to drop-out of the race after the Southampton reported them to the FA.
However, the Saints still appear to hold a grudge. As per the Irish Independent, they would rather do business with other clubs, leaving Liverpool out in the cold. It is reported that there is no dire need for them to part with Van Dijk, but offers in the region of £65M will be considered.
The Irish independent note that Van Dijk has made it clear that he is interested in moving to Anfield this summer, but that has not stopped Chelsea challenging for his signature. Only time will tell if the Premier League champions will turn that interest into a concrete proposal.
