Chelsea are reportedly one of several Premier League clubs interested in signing AS Monaco winger Thomas Lemar.
With Willian and Eden Hazard being linked with respective summer exits, and Pedro’s time at the top level coming to an end, Chelsea could certainly be in the market for a new wide-man this summer.
Lemar went from being relatively unheard of to one of the most coveted players in Europe virtually overnight. His meteoric rise to stardom coincided with AS Monaco’s Ligue 1 title triumph in 2016/17. Many of that squad have since departed, but Lemar remains.
Not for long, so it seems. French outlet L’Equipe report that Lemar could be set for a move to the Premier League this summer. Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are all thought to be interested, alongside giants from the continent in Atletico Madrid and Juventus.
It’s claimed that a figure in the region of €90M-€100M could be enough to prise Lemar away from Les Monégasques. It remains to be seen whether our penny-pinching board of directors would be willing to fork out such a hefty sum on the Frenchman.
