Chelsea have reportedly made a huge contract offer to academy product Callum Hudson-Odoi in hope of keeping him out of the clutches of Bayern Munich.
One of the stories of the transfer window to date has been Bayern Munich’s interest in signing Chelsea youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi. The kid’s incredibly talented, but we hadn’t expected a club of their calibre to make such a push to sign him.
Bayern may have caught the club off guard, but not Hudson-Odoi, the 18-year-old, has had his head screwed on straight throughout this saga. Though he was initially thought to be leaning towards making the move to the Allianz, there may have been a change of heart.
Goal believe that the change of circumstances early in the new year have not gone unappreciated by the teenager, who has a much more realistic chance of securing game-time right now than he did soon after Maurizio Sarri’s appointment as manager.
Chelsea’s chances of keeping Hudson-Odoi are looking a lot better, per the report. Goal note that Bayern were prepared to part with up to £35M to sign him, which is testament to Chelsea’s faith in him if the club were prepared to reject such a hefty offer.
Goal claim Marina Granovskaia is set to fight fire with fire by slapping £70K-a-week on the table in hope of convincing Hudson-Odoi to stay. Though it doesn’t feel as though he’s motivations are driven by money, that’ll certainly be tough for him to reject at his age.
As with anything, time will tell what is to come from this one’s climax. One thing’s for sure, though, with every day that passes towards the end of the transfer window without Hudson-Odoi holding the Bayern shirt aloft, our chances of keeping him increase.
