Chelsea have enquired about Real Madrid midfielder Marcos Llorente, according to Diario Madridista (via Express). The Spanish report claims that the Blues are showing interested in the 22-year-old after his impressive loan spell at Deportivo Alaves last season.
With Toni Kroos, Casemiro and Luka Modric in the Madrid squad already, Llorente’s chances of making it to the first team are slim. Zinedine Zidane has asked the midfielder to be patient but he is keen on playing first-team football regularly according to the report in Diario Madridista.
Chelsea are keen on signing a central midfielder after the sale of Nemanja Matic to Manchester United. Leicester City’s Danny Drinkwater was the #1 target but Telegraph reports suggest that the Foxes are demanding £40 million for him – a fee Chelsea are reluctant to match.
Apart from Chelsea, Manchester City and Barcelona are also in the race to sign the Spanish midfielder as per the report in Diario Madridista. Should Chelsea secure the deal for Llorente, he will become the 5th signing of the summer following Antonio Rudiger, Willy Caballero, Tieumoue Bakayoko and Alvaro Morata.
