Familiar face could soon be returning to Chelsea… unfortunately

We could soon be seeing Tiemoue Bakayoko back at Stamford Bridge… unfortunately.

Bakayoko was signed from then Ligue 1 champions AS Monaco in the summer of 2017 for what the BBC reported to be a transfer £40M fee.

With that sort of money comes high expectations, especially when you factor in that he was signed to replace two-time Premier League champion Nemanja Matic.

However, Bakayoko was poor all season. We were not even provided with flashes of brilliance. It was all bad, and Antonio Conte’s faith in him cost him dearly.

Bakayoko was shipped out to AC Milan in the summer in a move which was supposed to revive his stuttering career. It hasn’t, not yet anyway.

Milan’s patience is wearing thin, and according to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness), he has just 6-8 games to prove he is worthy of wearing the shirt.

The report claims that Chelsea would be reluctant to allow him to return mid-season, but Milan will opt against activating their option to buy.

That’d mean Bakayoko would return to Chelsea next summer, and he’d probably be sold. We’d take a bag of crisps in exchange for him at this point.
