Chelsea fear they could lose Thibaut Courtois this summer if Real Madrid decide to make a big-money move for the Belgium international.
According to reports in The Express today, the London club feels that it is helpless to prevent the talented 25-year-old from joining the current champions of Spain who have identified Courtois as their number one target after failing to secure the services of Manchester United’s David de Gea.
Speculation about the future of Chelsea’s first choice keeper comes after the player’s agent, Christophe Henrotay, fuelled speculation last month by disclosing that he had “regularly” been in contact with the people in charge of Real Madrid and that the future of the goalkeeper had been “evaluated”.
In light of Henrotay’s comments, The Express report that Antonio Conte is planning a move for PSG’s 24-year-old keeper Alphonse Areola who made 27 appearances for the Parisian club last term.
The Chelsea manager has already signed a goalkeeper this summer in the form of ex Manchester City player, Willy Caballero.
