Barcelona have reportedly lodged a £53M bid for Chelsea winger Willian.
Willian was voted as our players’ player of the year last term. He enjoyed a good period of form around the time that the voting took place – that can’t be a coincidence.
The Brazilian is very much the Marmite of the Chelsea fanbase. Some adore him, some abhor him. He deserves his equal share of credit and criticism.
Chelsea are not a selling club. We are under no pressure to part with our best players. However, if we receive an attractive proposal for any player, it’d be wise to have a good think about it.
According to the London Evening Standard, we have received one for Willian, from Barcelona, who previously had a smaller-sized offer turned down.
Barca are thought to be keen on signing Eden Hazard, but Chelsea have no interest in selling him. The Catalan club are instead pursuing Willian, and have tabled a £53M bid.
