Gary Cahill will remain at Chelsea and fight for his place under Maurizio Sarri, according to the Telegraph.
Cahill is not the breed of defender that Sarri is keen on. He’s unable to bring the ball out of defence, nor is he particularly talented with the ball at his feet. His newly-developed misfit status has thrown his Chelsea future into doubt.
The England international has been linked with a move to Turkey, but the Telegraph believe that Cahill has little interest in making that move happen. He will instead remain a Chelsea player and fight for minutes.
This is testament to Cahill’s dedication to Chelsea and his exemplary attitude. It’s noted in the report that he may well be set to lose the captaincy, but that has no bearing on his willingness to remain at Stamford Bridge and continue to work hard.
Whatever you may think about Cahill, you have to give him credit for that!
