Didier Drogba Chelsea
Chelsea's Didier Drogba celebrates after scoring against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Montreal Impact winger Ballou Jean-Yves Tabla is on Chelsea’s transfer radar after a recommendation from Didier Drogba, according to ESPN.

ESPN believe that Tabla is being monitored by several European clubs, and Chelsea have now joined the hunt to sign the Ivorian.

As per ESPN, Drogba is not only one of the greatest players ever to pull on a Chelsea shirt, but he is also an unofficial club scout. It is reported that Drogba recommended Tabla to the Blues, having played alongside him during his time in Montreal.

ESPN claim that Chelsea will face competition from Eden Hazard’s former employers Lille and Austrain outfit Red Bull Salzburg in the race to sign Tabla. You couldn’t, however, consider than stern competition for a club like Chelsea.

It remains to be seen whether Chelsea will turn their interest in Tabla into a concrete proposal, but if Drogba thinks he is good enough to play for us, he may well be worth a crack.
