Leicester City are thought to be exploring the possibility of re-signing Danny Drinkwater from Chelsea – just a year after he left the club.
Drinkwater must be feeling a spot of deja vu right now. As the minutes tick down towards the deadline, his future is still undecided. Will he stay or will he go? There are questions left unanswered, and time is running out for him to find clarification.
He has featured for Chelsea during pre-season, but Mateo Kovacic’s impending arrival at Stamford Bridge will only further complicate his route into the starting eleven.
According to the Independent, former side Leicester could offer him an escape route. It’s unclear how much of the £35M we paid for him we’re likely to recoup, but interest from the Foxes appears to exist and could develop before the deadline.
This is one to keep an eye on tomorrow. Drinkwater may not be a Chelsea player when the window comes to a close.
