Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo says that he is optimistic of signing wantaway Chelsea striker Diego Costa this transfer window, reports Sky Sports.
Sky Sports reveal that Diego Costa is keen on a return to Spain where he will be reunited with his former manager Diego Simeone at Atletico Madrid, viewing a transfer to Atletico as his desired destination.
According to Sky Sports, the La Liga side are yet to agree a fee with the reigning Premier League champions, but Atletico president Enrique Cerezo is hopeful of being able to agree a deal for the 28-year-old striker.
Speaking about the Chelsea forward on Spanish radio station Cadena SER, Sky Sports reveal that Cerezo said: “He has a contract with another club, it’s a complicated matter. We are taking things with ease. As long as Chelsea do not agree to his transfer, Costa will be [a] Chelsea [player]. Am I pessimistic or optimistic regarding the arrival of Costa? I am always optimistic.”
After bringing in Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid, Chelsea have already filled the vacant no.9 position left by Diego Costa. As a result, the Blues are in a position to sell the striker this window.
Yet, the two clubs have different valuations of the Spain international which is causing the saga to rumble on.
