Diego Costa will not rejoin Atletico Madrid this summer as he is refusing to return to London and make peace with Chelsea manager Antonio Conte, reports Spanish media outlet Marca.
Although the Atletico board are still working on a deal to sign the 28-year-old forward, Marca report that any deal to sign Costa is unlikely to be completed before the transfer deadline because of the striker’s conduct.
As per Marca, the main holdup in the return of Diego Costa to Atletico Madrid is the striker’s refusal to travel back to London. Costa, who is currently on vacation in Brazil, is still on bad terms with Chelsea manager Antonio Conte and has been urged by representatives from both clubs to return to West London to clear the air with the Italian coach.
However, unwilling to make peace with Conte, Marca report that the London club are insisting that they are under no obligation to sell the want-away striker and are looking to make an example of a player who has showed the Chelsea board a total lack of respect.
