Inter Milan are hoping to beat Manchester United to the signing of Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The Italian publication reports that the Milan club are looking to replace the outgoing Joao Mario and have entered talks to sign the Serbian midfielder, for what the Metro believe to be a fee in the region of £35 million.

However, as per Corriere dello Sport, the two-time Premier League champion will only be allowed to leave once the London club have secured the services of Monaco ace, Tiemoué Bakayoko.

Until now it had been reported by The Metro that Matic would prefer a move to Old Trafford where he would be reunited with former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho. However, after stealing Lukaku from under Chelsea’s nose, it would be no surprise if the Chelsea hierarchy chose to sell Matic to Inter Milan instead.

Matic formed a solid partnership with N’Golo Kante last season to clinch a fifth Premier League title. Should Chelsea let such a valuable leave? Leave your thoughts in the comments below.
