Chelsea are not alone in the race to sign Everton talisman Romelu Lukaku, according to the Express.
The Express report that Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has made the Belgium international his number one target for the summer transfer window following Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s serious knee injury.
The Express believe that United will face stern competition from Premier League champions Chelsea, who are also interested in signing Lukaku – but acquiring Lukaku is very much top of Mourinho’s priorities this summer.
The interest in Lukaku comes as no surprise, he found the back of the net 24 times in the Premier League last season. Whether it be Chelsea or Man United who end up securing his signature, they will be signing a player who has showcased his goalscoring credentials time and time again.
The only potential stumbling block is that the Express report that Everton are demanding an eye-watering £100million in exchange for their prize possession. Only time will tell if either side will be willing to meet the Toffees’ asking price.
