Manchester United are confident of signing Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic this summer, according to the Guardian.
Matic nailed down the second central-midfield position alongside N’Golo Kante last term, keeping Cesc Fabregas out of the side for the majority of the campaign.
However, as the Guardian report, Matic was not included in Antonio Conte’s squad for Chelsea’s tour of the far east, with Roman Abramovich prepared to give the green light to the Serb’s departure from the club.
As per the Guardian, Man United have had a £35M bid rejected for Matic, with Chelsea thought to be demanding £50M in exchange for the 28-year-old.
It is reported that Chelsea would be willing to sell Matic for a lower fee to a foreign club, but they are still thought to be holding a grudge after Man United hijacked their pursuit of Belgium international Romelu Lukaku.
It appears as though Matic’s time in West London is coming to an end, only time will tell if Old Trafford will be his next destination.
