Schalke are in talks to sign Chelsea left-back Baba Rahmann on a season-long loan, according to ESPN.
Baba spent last season on loan with the Bundesliga outfit, but his season was derailed by an anterior cruciate ligament rupture he sustained during the African Cup of Nations in January. With his recovery now at an advanced stage, ESPN claim that he could be heading back.
ESPN report that Schalke are in talks with Chelsea and Baba’s agent over the possibility of taking the Ghanian on loan for the 2017/18 campaign. It is claimed that the deal hinges on when Baba will be fit again.
It seems absurd for us to be entertaining the idea of loaning Baba out with Marcos Alonso being our only option at left-wing-back. Once he is match-fit, he could certainly be of use to Antonio Conte.
However, it looks as though the club have made up their mind, and if ESPN are to be believed, it seems unlikely that Baba will still be a Chelsea player at the beginning of September.
