Tiemoue Bakayoko’s days as a Chelsea player are over. The Frenchman has agreed a deal to sign for AC Milan.
That’s according to Goal, who report that Bakayoko is off to the San Siro on a season-long loan, with an option to buy for £31M.
That figure is around £9M short of what we paid for Bakayoko last summer, but following his dreadful performances last season, we couldn’t have expected to recoup any more.
Chelsea fans grew frustrated with Nemanja Matic, but Bakayoko proved himself unable to replace the two-time Premier League title winner.
A large chunk of Antonio Conte’s transfer budget was invested into the former AS Monaco midfielder, and he suffered the consequences for having faith in him.
The best case scenario, from our perspective, is that Bakayoko will rediscover his form at Milan and makes his move permanently next summer.
We can then use that money as part of a deal to sign Mateo Kovacic!
