Eden Hazard and Gonzalo Higuain, an unlikely partnership, but a brilliant one. The pair have both completed their braces against Huddersfield Town.
We’re sure that these two players didn’t expect to cross paths in their careers, yet here they are. Hazard on the left, Higuain through the middle, and a bloody big smile on the face of Maurizio Sarri. These two are a joy to watch.
Hazard scored his first of the game from the penalty spot and he’s just bagged another. The Belgian loves rounding the goalkeeper and firing home and he’s done it again here. Ross Barkley, who’s been a lot better today, provided the assist.
Three clearly wasn’t enough for Chelsea, who are looking to lay down a marker following the loss to Bournemouth. Higuain fired into the corner from the edge of the box, with the help of a Huddersfield deflection, to get a brace of his own.
This is the kind of potency we want to be seeing from Chelsea week-in, week-out. The stats show that we create enough chances to be a high-scoring team, we have just struggled to find the back of the net. That may all be set to change…
