Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has reaffirmed his commitment to Chelsea, despite continuous links with Real Madrid.

The question has been asked time and time again in recent weeks – why would the likes of Courtois and compatriot Eden Hazard choose to stick around without the promise of Champions League football? Why would they stay if we cannot compete with the likes of Manchester City both domestically and in the transfer market?

Following Wednesday night’s 3-0 defeat to Barcelona, in Courtois’ case, we ought to be wondering why Real Madrid would even be interested in signing him if he is making multiple costly errors in a Champions League knockout game.

As the London Evening Standard report, both Real Madrid and PSG have been sniffing around Courtois. However, neither side will have been impressed with his performance at the Nou Camp.

Courtois, who at his best is inarguably one of the best in his position in the world, looks to be committed to Chelsea. Whether that be because the aforementioned have dropped their interest, or he genuinely enjoys life in SW6, remains to be seen.

The 25-year-old is quoted by the London Evening Standard saying:

“I’m committed to Chelsea. I have a contract until next year and I will be here. I will do my best for it.”

“Obviously there is no extension signed but I don’t think now is the moment to do it. I think it is better to wait until the end of the season. All I can say is I’m committed to Chelsea and also committed for next year.”

Great news!
