The rumours of Gary O’Neil leaving Strasbourg and taking the Ipswich job are starting to solidify.
Fabrizio Romano has just Tweeted that the English coach is “set to” join the newly promoted side from Chelsea’s sister club.
“All done with formal steps to follow as O’Neill and RC Strasbourg are set to part ways soon,” he concluded.
BlueCo back to the drawing board as they begin manager hunt

Unfortunately for Chelsea and Strasbourg, when you live by the transfer market you die by the transfer market too. If you sign players and they do well you tend to at least get a big payout. With coaches, that doesn’t tend to be the case.
It’s back to the drawing board now for Strasbourg, who will need to do their magic once again and find a third smart choice as coach in a row. There was always a sense that O’Neil would be off the moment a Premier League job came calling, so this isn’t a huge surprise – but it is of course disruptive.
We wonder who gets the chance next?
In other news…
Manchester City have reached late June without a manager in place, because Chelsea aren’t letting Enzo Maresca go without a fight.
Chelsea have been linked with some very ambitious interest in a player owned by one of their biggest rivals. We’re not sure they have any chance of landing him.
