The situation around Chelsea’s left back is getting very interesting.
The Blues sold Marc Cucurella to Real Madrid last week, meaning the man they’ve had as first choice left back for four years is gone. Jorrel Hato looks promising, but can’t yet be relied on as first choice. So who do they sign?
Carreras could stay for Jose, with Garcia going

Some chatter appeared this week that the obvious move would be to bring in the man that Cucurella has now displaced. It was assumed that this was Alvaro Carreras, the impressive Spanish left wing back. But according to Fabrizio Romano, Carreras “is expected to stay at Real Madrid this summer.”
It sounds like new manager Jose Mourinho at least wants a good look.
That would mean the one let go is Fran Garcia, another talented youth team product. But so far, we’ve seen no chat about Chelsea interest in him.
It looks like the Blues are going to have to cast their net a little wider as they search for a Cucurella successor to bring in this summer.
In other news…
Fabrizio Romano is claiming that Ipswich Town are very close to appointing Strasbourg boss Gary O’Neil as their new manager, leaving BlueCo in the lurch.
Manchester City have reached late June without a manager in place, because Chelsea aren’t letting Enzo Maresca go without a fight.
