Our writer Simon Phillips has been all over the Enzo Fernandez saga this summer, and today he comes up with some more details about how far along negotiations with Real Madrid are.
He clarifies a few things before people get carried away: Real Madrid have not sent any offers to Chelsea, and have not agreed terms with Fernandez (although that won’t be an issue).
They’re “not in active negotiations” for Enzo, and the only discussions that happened were very vague and came during the talks that agreed Marc Cucurella’s move to the same club.
Enzo Fernandez price may be lower than expected

Phillips also says that the final fee for Fernandez could be as low as £85m, albeit with strong bonuses that could take that higher.
That’s significantly lower than the £100m or even £120m we’ve seen quoted in other places. At £85m plus bonuses we can really see a deal happening, although as Phillips points out, we’ll probably have to wait until after the World Cup now.
