Chelsea have a number of teams looking at their defender – but at the price they’re asking a deal is hard to imagine.

Tuesday in the transfer window means one thing – the Athletic’s Deal Sheet is out, with all sorts of new snippets for Chelsea fans.

It starts with a rundown of things we already know – Chelsea are close to signing Marco Palestra, have had a low ball bid for Granit Xhaka turned down, and would accept £35m for Trevoh Chalobah. Then we get into the new stuff.

Gusto still on the market – but crazy asking price could wreck deals

We’ve heard Malo Gusto’s name mentioned a few times this summer, mainly in connection with Man City. But here Simon Johnson claims that there are “admirers” of Gusto at a “number of clubs.” With Palestra coming in, a sale seems likely. But the massive £75m asking price is surely counting against us here.

There are very few clubs in the world who could or would spend £75m on a player. But on a right back? Almost none. We’re sure the club would take a lower fee, but even at £60m it’s hard to see who pays up.

In other news…

Eli Junior Kroupi would be some signing for Chelsea, and the Blues are starting to be mentioned in connection with the attacker.

Everton are closing in on a Chelsea youngster, who is close to making a move north. Fabrizio Romano has an exclusive report on the move.
