Nizaar Kinsella has update on £70m man Chelsea “are not actively looking to sell”

Chelsea are going to make a number of changes this summer, but we don’t expect to see Wesley Fofana going anywhere.

Chelsea have a lot of clearing up to do in their squad this summer, and a priority will be sorting things out at centre back.

The Blues have a lot of them – but none who stands head and shoulders above the rest. That’s what they need to be targeting this summer, and in order to do that they’ll need to sell some of the current options first.

Wesley Fofana was supposed to be that man – the leader at the back to elevate those around him. But injuries, bad form and sometimes a bad attitude have prevented him from coming close. It’s no surprise to hear him named as one of the players who could leave in order to make space for someone who can give the team what they need,

But according to Nizaar Kinsella’s piece today, “there is no indication that Chelsea are actively looking to sell Fofana.”

The BBC journalist adds that Chelsea would need to bring in a £30m fee to avoid a book loss on the France international they paid £70m for.

The fact they’re not looking to sell is probably because they think there won’t be much interest at a price they can tolerate. If a team came in tomorrow with a £30m offer, we think they’d take it.

In other news…

Lucas Bergvall has asked to leave Tottenham, according to David Ornstein, who also confirmed that Chelsea are one of the teams who have looked at the midfielder in the past.

Liam Delap could be sold by Chelsea this summer – but we’re a long way from finding out what plans are for a number of Blues.
