The 2020/21 season has witnessed AC Milan conquer the heights that the club is historically famed for. But ever since going through a rough patch since the start of the year, with losses against Atalanta, Spezia, Napoli and league leaders Inter Milan, the Rossoneri have effectively thrown away the Scudetto in the hands of their city rivals.
One positive aspect, though, has been the arrival of Fikayo Tomori on loan from Chelsea.
The England international has turned himself into a commanding presence in the centre-back position and the Italian giants are now concretely contemplating to turn his loan move into a permanent transfer.
Speaking to Gazzetta Dello Sport (via DailyMail), Milan club legend and honorary vice-president Franco Baresi made it clear how much Milan want Tomori.
‘We will do everything possible to sign him on a permanent deal. Two months are remaining until the end of the season, and it’s not only up to Milan.
His January loan move has seen him appear 12 times for Milan already and the 23-year-old does not look like slowing down.
‘Tomori is imposing himself with talent and determination. He has shown no fear playing in a new league. He can potentially become a great champion. I hope he lives up to expectations,’ said Baresi.
Tomori was also the subject of widespread praise from Paolo Maldini & Fabio Capello after putting in fantastic displays at the back.
Stefano Pioli has found a real gem in defence. It’s no surprise Milan don’t want to let Tomori return to England.
We can’t let tomori go. He’s probably the best centre back we have
