Antonio Conte wants Cesc Fabregas to remain a part of his Chelsea squad next season, but Nemanja Matic’s future at Stamford Bridge is less certain, report the Express.
According to the Express, Conte informed Fabregas following Chelsea’s FA Cup final defeat at the hands of his former employers Arsenal that he still had a part to play in his plans.
The Express believe that earlier in the 2016/17 title-winning campaign, Chelsea looked to the market in order to find potential suitors for their midfield mastermind, but it appears as though Conte has now had a change of heart.
It is reported by the Express that Fabregas has two-years remaining on his deal with the Blues, and it would take a ‘huge’ offer to convince the club to part with him this summer.
The future of Fabregas’ midfield counterpart Matic appears to be less certain, as the Express believe he could well be cashed-in on this summer, amid interest from Manchester United. The tabloid note that Juventus have also been linked with a move for the Serb.
