Roman Abramovich has developed a reputation for being somewhat of an unforgiving owner since taking charge of Chelsea in 2003.

Continually, managers have not been given an opportunity to turn Chelsea’s on-pitch fortunes around and has instead decided to send them packing. Roberto Di Matteo, who won the Champions League in May, was sacked in November. The decision to part with the Italian was perhaps the most brutal of Abramovich’s reign.

It looks as though the Russian may be beginning to mellow in order to bring some sort of stability to life at Stamford Bridge.

According to The Sun, Antonio Conte may not be sacked by Chelsea, even if we miss out on the top four and subsequently Champions League qualification. It’s claimed that Abramovich is not so ‘trigger happy’ nowadays and is prepared to give Conte a proper opportunity to take the Premier League champions back to the top next season.

There is no better manager than Conte available at the moment. Let’s hope that this information is accurate and he stays put.
