Antonio Conte held a session with the Chelsea squad at Cobham today, despite the club knowing full well that the Italian was set to be sacked.

News broke on Thursday afternoon that Conte’s time as Chelsea manager was done. In two-years at the club, he won the Premier League and FA Cup, but the latter was not enough to save a season which was defined by our failure to qualify for the Champions League.

Conte is responsible for our failures, but not entirely. The players also have to take responsibility. They must have had a feeling that he was set to leave if they’d read any newspaper or scrolled through their Twitter timelines – but they found out about his departure at the same time we did.

That’s according to Goal‘s Nizaar Kinsella, who claims that the squad were left in the dark about the managerial situation until today. They did not know that Conte was set to be replaced with Conte. Instead, they partook in training with their manager, for one last time.
