Antonio Conte

Antonio Conte has been quoted by the London Evening Standard discussing continual speculation over his Chelsea future.

It seems bizarre that there could even be the remotest implications that Conte’s future at Stamford Bridge is in doubt. The Italian won the Premier League title last time around with a side that finished tenth the year prior. It was an incredible feat, yet he may have contributed to his own ‘downfall’.

Expectations are now sky-high, because everyone now knows that Conte is capable of. Having all-but lost the title to Manchester City in December, you have to consider it a failure on Conte’s part.

As the London Evening Standard report, there is a major question mark over Conte’s long-term future as Chelsea manager, but the man himself believes that he deserves more respect from the media in this country.

Conte is quoted by the London Evening Standard saying:

“Every day there is speculation about my future. It’s not right because I think I deserve a bit of respect for what I did last season, for what I am doing this season.”

“I have another year on my contract, so in this moment my focus is total, to improve my players, to try to improve the team, to try to improve the club. If you understand a bit [about] football there is a moment you must have great patience, to know that someone is working very well.”

Let’s hope the English media outlets take notice and stop this baseless reporting – Conte is going nowhere anytime soon!
