Antonio Conte has warned Chelsea not to be ‘stupid’ and sack him before the end of his contract, report the Guardian.

It’s hard to believe that Conte finds himself in this position. We won the Premier League title less than 12-months ago. However, we are in real danger of finishing the season without any silverware, and if the poor results continue, we could even miss out on Champions League qualification.

When you sign along the dotted line and agree to become Chelsea manager, you have to accept that your job will be in jeopardy if the results are not positive. That is the reality of working under the watchful eye of an owner as ruthless as Roman Abramovich.

The pressure is undoubtedly mounting on Conte at Stamford Bridge, but he has warned the club against dismissing him, despite just one win in our past five Premier League games.

Chelsea were defeated 3-0 by AFC Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge.

Conte is quoted by the Guardian suggesting that sacking him would be a ‘stupid’ decision:

“There are two ways. There is a stupid way and an intelligent way. This is my opinion. At the same time, I have great respect for everyone’s opinion.”

“If the club decides to send me away, I don’t know when, it’ll be because they’re not happy with my work. As you know very well, my contract expires in 2019. From my point of view, there is the will to stay and continue to work for this club.”

It’s hard to disagree with him. Regardless of recent results, he is one of the best managers on the planet. There is no manager realistically attainable at the current time that could do a better job than Conte – we have to stick with him.
