Maurizio Sarri has warned Chelsea fans to manage their expectations as we head into the start of his first Premier League campaign.
We were left awaiting the arrival of Sarri for such a lengthy period that his appointment was all the more satisfying.
Chelsea have already shown that they are developing an understanding of Sarri’s way of thinking, but we are still some way from the finished article.
With a completely new system being implemented, and several key players still unfit and unavailable for selection, the Chelsea we see against Huddersfield will not be operating at maximum capacity.
Sarri himself has acknowledged his and has warned fans that we could encounter ‘problems’ in the opening stages of the Premier League season.
He’s quoted by the Telegraph saying:
“I hope that the second part of the season, for us, will be very good with a lot of points. I expect in the first part of the season some problems.”
“On the results. Maybe the performances in the first part of the season will not be in line with the potential of the squad.”
Chelsea identified Sarri as their number one managerial target and chased him for over a month prior to his appointment.
They now have to show faith in the manager who they were so keen to get their hands on.
