Despite the emphatic 4-0 win against Qarabag on Wednesday night, top spot in Group C of the Champions League is still on the line.
In the unfortunate event that Chelsea finish as runners-up in the group, this would obviously mean we’re more likely to draw a tough team in the round of 16.
This would all depend on how other results pan out with the ball still in Roma’s court. If the Italians were to slip up against either Atletico Madrid or Qarabag, that would be huge for us.
Chelsea’s potential opponents if we don’t win our group
Antonio Conte’s side can’t play any English team or a team that has also qualified from our group.
PSG and Barcelona are currently top of their respective groups as it stands. Both are clear teams we will want to avoid.
Liverpool could surpisingly haunt our chances of drawing an underdog side should they top Group E.
If the Reds fail to beat Spartak Moscow we could draw either the Russians or Sevilla in the next round. Two teams that are certainly beatable.
Besiktas are a clear candidate the Blues could come up against as the Turkish side have already Group G.
No matter what team Chelsea play against in the knockouts, no side can be underestimated in this tournament.
