Antonio Rudiger

Antonio Rudiger has revealed that Chelsea threw in the towel at half-time in the 2-0 defeat to Roma on Tuesday night, the Metro reports.

Rudiger who played in the Blues back three was the main fault for Roma’s second goal just before the break. However, the majority of the team had poor performances as we suffered a setback in the Champions League.

The Italian side went onto win the match 3-0 but when speaking to beIN Sports, the 24-year-old said that the team more was low in what was a frustrating evening for Chelsea.

Rudiger is quoted by the Metro saying:

“You can lose, but in a proper way, we gave up after the 2-0. We didn’t believe in it [coming back], the minds were down and the heads were down.”

This attitude is a major concern. Even if Antonio Conte’s men had shown some fight despite losing the game, there wouldn’t have been this much criticism.

The manager and players can only blame themselves but the mood has to be lifted in the build-up to Sunday’s game against Manchester United.

In what is described as a ‘must-win game’ by Thibaut Courtois, as reported by Eurosport, the team must be in the right mindset if we’re to beat United at Stamford Bridge.
