The FA are set to launch an investigation after a group of Chelsea supporters sang an anti-Semitic song about Alvaro Morata at the King Power Stadium on Saturday afternoon, report the Telegraph.
According to the Telegraph, the actions of this small group of Chelsea fans has been condemned by both Chelsea and Leicester. The FA are now set to get in contact with the Blues in hope of identifying those who were chanting it.
The Telegraph note that Chelsea made a quick response following the game, issuing a statement, part of which read:
“The club and the players appreciate the fans’ passionate support away from home. But the language in that song is not acceptable at all.”
Though the intention of the song was to show support to Morata, rather than to offend, there is no place for any sort of racism in the modern game and the FA are right to look into it.
We hope that the Chelsea fans will be able to come up with a new chant for Morata, without the racist undertones.
