Chelsea have reportedly not ruled out the possibility of Antonio Conte seeing out his contract.
It would be quite the turnaround for Conte to remain at Stamford Bridge after everything that’s happened.
His relationships with David Luiz and Willian appear to be at breaking point. He is not on the best terms with Marina Granovskaia having publicly criticised her transfer strategy for months on end, either.
With reports heavily linking former Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri with the Chelsea job, we’ve been waiting on the club’s official statement confirming Conte’s dismissal. It may, however, never come.
According to the Telegraph, though sacking remains the most likely outcome, Chelsea have considered the option of allowing Conte to stay at the club for the final year of his contract.
It’s claimed that there is concern in the Chelsea camp that ‘civil war’ may break out if Conte remains. That sounds a little dramatic, but it’s hard to picture Luiz and Willian here next campaign if a new manager is not appointed.
