Cesc Fabregas has suggested that he could miss out on Chelsea’s Premier League season opener against Huddersfield today.

Fabregas was forced off at half-time during our pre-season fixture with Arsenal having sustained a knee injury.

Though the damage done was not thought to be severe, Fabregas was on crutches for the the days following the game.

He was though to be a major doubt for the Community Shield at Wembley, yet was named in Maurizio Sarri’s starting eleven for the game.

An exchange Fabregas had with a fan on Instagram suggests that he wasn’t fit to feature then, and isn’t now. See below.

Fabregas has admitted himself he’s not fully fit, so Sarri shouldn’t start him through desperation and risk setting him back even further.

Danny Drinkwater isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but he’s a useful stop-gap in Fabregas’ absence. Either field him, or if N’Golo Kante’s fit, fast-track him into the starting side.
