Chelsea left-back Marcos Alonso is already the best left-back in the country, but he’s hungry to improve even further.

Alonso has come on leaps and bounds since signing from Fiorentina back in 2016. He’s still guilty of some sporadic dodgy defending, but his influence on the front foot makes up for his shortfalls at the back.

Alongside Real Madrid’s Marcelo, Alonso is one of the most dangerous full-backs on the planet. The goal and assist numbers he has managed to produce as a Chelsea player speak for themselves.

Alonso is not content with the player he is at the time of writing, though. Like all top players, he’s always looking to improve and reach the highest level possible.

The Spaniard is quoted by WAGNH saying:

“That’s why I came to Chelsea. When you come to one of the top teams in the world with some great players, you can fight for that spot and that’s what I try to do.”

”I want to keep improving and to work hard to be one of the best. I want to score more goals, I want to give more assists, I want to do more tackles.”

”Everything I can do to help this team is good for the team and good for myself.”

Alonso got his first competitive minutes for Spain under his belt last month. If he can displace Jordi Alba and triumph with La Roja, he would be held in even higher regard in the football world. We fancy his chances.
