Kenedy is on his way to Newcastle till the end of the season which only means one thing, Chelsea are on the verge of signing a left-back.

Sadly for some Chelsea fans, it’s not the highly-rated Brazilian Alex Sandro. Instead, it’s his compatriot Emerson Palmieri from Roma that will be moving to Stamford Bridge, The Standard reports.

For 21-year-old Kenedy, after failing to provide Marcos Alonso serious competition for his place, he links up with a club in the relegation wars.

When speaking in his press conference on Tuesday, Conte gave more news surrounding the likely departure of Kenedy, as The Standard reports.

The Standard quotes Conte saying:

“For sure we are talking about a young player with great potential.

“He needs to play with regularity. To go to Newcastle, it’s a great challenge for him.”

Kenedy must progress at Newcastle

After just five appearances for Chelsea this season, Kenedy’s spell away from the champions makes logical sense for the individual.

For his personal development, not only does Kenedy need game time but he needs to make an impression on ex-Blues and Newcastle coach Rafael Benitez.

The talented player can’t afford another loan spell like the one at Watford that was cut short at the start of our title-winning campaign under Conte.
